Copic Certified

About 18 months ago, I discovered Copic markers. I was having so much fun with them that I just had to share what I was learning with others and began teaching Copic classes last fall at Marco's Paper. This giraffe (stamp from Rubber Cottage) is one of the images we color in my Copic 101 class.

Today marks another milestone in my Copic journey. I am excited to report that the Craft Junkies are now officially certified! Or is that certifiable? Some would say both. After a completing an all-day course taught by Sally Lynn MacDonald, we have each earned our designation as a "Certified Copic Designer".

And, a bit more exciting news from the world of Copics - if you were thinking that 322 colors weren't quite enough, there are 12 new colors being added to the Sketch line (U.S. release date TBD). For all of you who love sparkle and bling, there are 12 new colors of the Atyou Spica glitter pens now available as well. The new "Set B" includes more pastels and a "clear" pen. Set A (the original set) contains primary colors.

Deer Card

It's been a hectic few days but I haven't forgotten my promise to post the information on the sneak peek deer card. It's really quite simple.

Start with a piece of good dark brown cardstock (I used Kaleidapaper). Lay a brass or metal stencil (I used one from Dreamweavers) on top of the cardstock. Spritz with full strength bleach - be sure to protect the surrounding area and your clothes unless you plan to decorate more than just your cardstock! Remove the stencil (clean it immediately) and let the bleach dry. As it dries, the color of the cardstock will start to fade. If you try to rush the process by using a heat gun, it will move the bleach around and you won't get the cool mottled look I have on my card. Also, I didn't tape the stencil in place. I simply held it with two fingers at the top of the stencil while I sprayed the bottom and two fingers at the bottom of the stencil while I sprayed the top.

I want to say a special "thank you" to all of the students who attended my stencil class at Adventures in Stamping. This card was one of the many projects we worked on.

Congratulations Card

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, Marco's Paper (Centerville, Ohio) offers a free make-it / take-it project. Today I had the pleasure of leading the project, with the help of my friend Kelly. Today's project was a quick card for those upcoming graduation celebrations. Check out their blog for my detailed instructions (including photos)

Customize your card by making it in your graduate's school colors. Change it to another congratulatory occasion by changing out the tassel for a charm or other embellishment that reflects the event (baby shower, wedding, new job, etc.)
